The Stormers began training back in October when many of their players were winning the Rugby World Cup in Japan. Dobson says that it gave him an opportunity to work with some of the younger players, but things really stepped up when captain Siya Kolisi and the other Springbok players joined the camp.
Kolisi, who has been all over the world since lifting the Webb Ellis trophy at the start of November, says while it was an amazing experience celebrating their World Cup win, he is happy to be back on the rugby field.
Kolisi says that while they are known for their entertaining brand of rugby, this season the Stormers want to focus on winning, no matter the style. He also says this year the Stormers are working hard to strengthen their relationship with their fans.
With this being the last planned year of rugby at the Newlands Stadium, before shifting to Cape Town Stadium, Kolisi says 2020 is going to be an emotional year.
Meanwhile, WP Rugby have announced that Paul Zacks will be stepping down as Group CEO at the end of month.
While Dobson is sad to see Zacks go, he says it should have little impact on the Stormers’ season.
