Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says log leaders Kaizer Chiefs have no excuse but to win the league this season.

Mosimane says Amakhosi have the advantage this season since they have not been participating in the CAF Competitions and the MTN8.

Sundowns and Bidvest Wits have been campaigning in the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Amakhosi are leading the log with 45 points after 19 matches, while Orlando Pirates are second with 36 points in 20 matches.

The Brazilians are third with 35 points in 18 matches. Mosimane says Amakhosi are a fresh team.

Wits are in the fifth position with 30 points in 16 matches. If the “Clever Boys” win all their three matches in hand they will go to 39 points and topple both Pirates and Sundowns.

On Wednesday night, Wits lost 1-0 to Maritzburg United. Mosimane says they were fatigued.

Mosimane also weighed in on the coronavirus that has claimed many lives in China. Sundowns travels extensively on the continent, and sometimes have to go to Europe and the Middle East to catch connecting flights. Mosimane is not pressing panic buttons yet.

Meanwhile, Sundowns will tackle Chippa United in a league match at Loftus Versfeld stadium in Pretoria on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams drew 1-1 in the first round match in Port Elizabeth earlier this season. Mosimane says their coach Norman Mapeza has transformed the team.
